O presente relatĂłrio final integra-se na Unidade Curricular de PrĂĄtica de Ensino Supervisionada II, no Mestrado em Ensino do 1.Âș Ciclo do Ensino BĂĄsico e de PortuguĂȘs e HistĂłria e Geografia de Portugal no 2.Âș Ciclo do Ensino BĂĄsico, ministrado na Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa (ESELx). Este contempla a realização de duas intervençÔes educativas, no 1.Âș e 2.Âș Ciclos do Ensino BĂĄsico e a elaboração de um estudo investigativo. Como problemĂĄtica para esta investigação definiu-se: O Estudo do Meio potencia o desenvolvimento de competĂȘncias de cooperação, respeito e valorização da diversidade cultural. Para a exploração desta problemĂĄtica, foram definidos os seguintes objetivos de investigação: (I) reconhecer o contributo do Estudo do Meio para melhorar as interaçÔes dentro do grupo-turma (cooperação, respeito e valorização da diversidade cultural); (II) analisar as representaçÔes dos alunos sobre a conceção do ârespeito pelo outroâ; (III) analisar o impacto das prĂĄticas democrĂĄticas no desenvolvimento das CompetĂȘncias para uma Cultura da Democracia (CCD); e (IV) refletir o potencial do Estudo do Meio para desenvolver as CompetĂȘncias para uma Cultura da Democracia. A metodologia utilizada foi de natureza mista, tendo sido recolhidos dados
qualitativos atravĂ©s de inquĂ©ritos e dados quantitativos atravĂ©s de observação direta participante. Para o tratamento da informação recolhida, recorreu-se Ă anĂĄlise de conteĂșdo e anĂĄlise estatĂstica simples. Os dados obtidos permitiram-nos compreender (i) a importĂąncia de trabalhar os temas de Estudo do Meio com a intencionalidade explĂcita de promover as CCD; (ii) a relevĂąncia em adotar prĂĄticas de ensino democrĂĄticas dentro da sala de aula, e diversificar atividades e recursos de modo a ampliar a aprofundar conteĂșdos e conceitos; e (iii) a necessidade de criar um ambiente democrĂĄtico em sala de aula que promova a motivação dos alunos para a aprendizagem e atue como agente facilitador do desenvolvimento das CCD.
This final report is submitted as part of the Supervised Teaching Practice II course, within the Master's Degree in Teaching for the 1st Cycle of Basic Education and in Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal for the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education, offered by the Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa (ESELx). The report documents two educational interventions conducted in the 1st and 2nd Cycles of Basic Education, as well as an investigative study. The central research question guiding this study is: "Does the subject of Estudo do Meio (Environmental Studies) foster the development of cooperation, respect, and appreciation for cultural diversity?" To address this question, the following research objectives were established: (I) to recognize the contribution of Estudo do Meio in enhancing classroom interactionsâspecifically cooperation, respect, and appreciation for cultural diversity; (II) to analyze studentsâ perceptions of the concept of ârespect for othersâ; (III) to examine the impact of democratic practices on the development of Competencies for a Culture of Democracy (CCD); and (IV) to reflect on the potential of Estudo do Meio in cultivating these competencies. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining qualitative data collected through surveys with quantitative data obtained via participant observation. Data analysis involved both content analysis and basic statistical methods. The findings highlight (i) the significance of intentionally integrating Estudo do Meio topics to promote CCD; (ii) the importance of adopting democratic teaching practices and diversifying classroom activities and resources to deepen students' understanding of key concepts; and (iii) the necessity of creating a democratic classroom environment that motivates students and serves as a catalyst for the development of competencies essential to a Culture of Democracy.
