Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT The present report fits within the scope of the Curricular Unit of Practice of Supervised Teaching II included in the Master´s degree in the 1st and 2nd Cycles of the Basic Education. This document results from a moment of reflection on the practice carried out in a 3rd grade class. It describes the way how were diagnosed potentialities and fragilities wherefrom resulted the general objectives that have been worked throughout the intervention and evaluated at the end of this process. It was during the observation period that the subject of this report came up: Does the realization of practical activities motivate pupils for the learning of Sciences? So, it was considered adequate to study some problem questions about the Natural and Social Environment Study classes, namely what was the pupils’ perception of the work developed in such classes, what motivation they evidenced, what reasons were stated by them for their motivation and what sentiments/difficulties they and the teacher feel when performing practical activities. For this study a mixed methodology was privileged, the data collection having been made through open and closed answer questionnaires, by means of observation and non-structured interviews. After processing of the data obtained, the results of this study revealed that the class enjoyed performing practical activities in the Natural and Social Environment Study classes as they had eased the construction of new learnings. The class so remained motivated for the learning of Sciences and willing to continue developing this type of work.
