Sendo a voz na criação cénica um tema muito pouco explorado na teoria do teatro em
Portugal, salvo honrosas e balsâmicas excepções, este artigo é apenas um pequeno gesto,
ou para ser mais precisa, uma homenagem a duas professoras, Natália de Matos e Maria
João Serrão, que dedicaram a maior parte do seu tempo e esforço ao ensino da voz numa
escola de referência como é a E.S.T.C., Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema em Portugal.
Conhecer o trabalho destas docentes poderá dar-nos uma perspectiva de como foi o ensino
da voz do pós 25 de abril até à viragem do milénio. Poderá também ajudar-nos a distinguir
o que do seu legado faz parte de uma prática de ensino ou o que foi abandonado.
Poderemos ainda, a partir desta observação, entender, aos olhos de uma prática teatral
contemporânea e de outras correntes de pensamento da voz enquanto elemento da criação
cénica, como poderá ser projectada a sua aprendizagem.
Abstract - Considering that the voice -in its relation with the scenic creation- has been hardly studied by portuguese theatrical theorists (with a few honourable exceptions), this article is merely a small retribution, or, if you may, an homage to Natália de Matos e Maria João Serrão, two teachers of voice that committed their work at E.S.T.C, Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, a reference in the sector in Portugal. To get to know their work is both to understand what was the teaching of voice from de post 25 April (1974) till the turn of the century, and to grasp their legacy in the contemporary teaching practice. This could be the starting point, framed by the contemporary theatrical practice and main schools of thought on the meaning of voice in the scenic creation, to approach the future of voice teaching.
