Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - The present internship report was prepared as part of the Master's Degree in Dance Education at the Lisbon Superior School of Dance, with the aim of obtaining the master's degree. The internship took place at the Vocational Dance School of Caldas da Rainha, a specialized artistic education institution, during the 2023/2024 academic year. Motivated by a growing interest in emotions, both on a personal and professional level, the student intern sought to explore the application of Emotional Intelligence in the context of dance education. The main objective was to stimulate the Emotional Intelligence of the students, promoting creativity, body expression, and the enhancement of learning in the subjects of Contemporary Dance Technique and Creative Expression. The pedagogical intervention focused on developing this competence in a group of first-year students of specialized artistic education, in the disciplines of Creative Expression and Contemporary Dance Technique. To this end, children's literature was used as a pedagogical resource, aiming to explore and foster socio-emotional skills and to analyze their impact on the dance learning process. Based on the premise that dance is a form of emotional expression, allowing children to communicate feelings through movement, and on the idea that working on emotions can be an essential tool for technical and artistic development, an action-research approach was adopted during the internship. This included the use of observation tables, questionnaires, photographic records, videos, and audio recordings to comprehensively document and analyze the activities carried out. The results of this research point to the importance of an integrated approach to dance education, considering both technical and emotional development. The ultimate goal is to provide a basis for reflection on artistic education, proposing constructive suggestions for future educational interventions.
