RESUMO: Ensaia-se o estudo da evolução da heráldica e emblemática da Guarda Nacional Republicana. Trata-se da primeira tentativa de abordagem da matéria em apreço, privilegiando-se e análise em termos artísticos, ou seja a experimentação estética das armas.
ABSTRACT: This is an essay of the evolution of the heraldry and distinctive symbology of the Portuguese National Guard. It is the first attempt of approaching this subject in Portuguese historiography; favouring the study of the analysis as Art, which means the aesthetic aspect of innovation and creativity.
