Abstract(s)

Inventing Futures, Doing and Thinking – Artistic Research with(in) the Master of Choreography Programme of ArtEZ Institute of the Arts - a publication celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Master of Choreography Programme. In this book chapter, Maria Ramos introduces the exercise ‘Walking for Thinking’ as a practice that recognises thinking as a creative process that requires its own routine. This practice involves taking walks within a stipulated amount of time or a designated route to think productively with collaborators during the working day. Ramos suggests some tips for those who want to try this practice. The text ‘Like a Dance’ was written after a ‘Walking for Thinking’ session in the context of Ramos choreographic project ‘A Certain Degree of Immobility’. Designed to be read twice, first from beginning to end and then from end to beginning, it explores choreographic concepts such as repetition, time and 'choreography as landscape-in-action'.
