A doença cardiovascular é a principal causa de morte prematura e morbilidade em todo o mundo, incluindo Portugal. A alta prevalência de hipertensão arterial contribui para a carga global das doenças cardiovasculares sendo mesmo o seu principal fator de risco. Cerca de metade dos doentes com medicamentos anti-hipertensivos prescritos interrompem seu uso durante o primeiro ano de tratamento, comportamento este, influenciado por vários fatores. O principal objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar a validação do questionário The My Experience of Taking Medicines para Português. Para isso, o trabalho foi desenvolvido em quatro fases: primeiramente a tradução (Inglês – Português) e retroversão (Português – Inglês), realizada por tradutores independentes, autónomos e falantes nativos do idioma em questão. De seguida, foi realizado um pré-teste com dez doentes, os quais forneceram feedback altamente positivo. Posteriormente, a validação de conteúdo e adaptação cultural realizada através da técnica Delphi que demonstrou a relevância, qualidade de formulação/clareza e adequação à realidade portuguesa para as quatorze perguntas do questionário. A última fase se referiu à validação psicométrica, juntamente com análises estatísticas decorrente da aplicação do questionário em um hospital de referência em cardiologia. No total, 145 doentes preencheram completamente o questionário e os resultados da validação psicométrica, especificamente o valor do teste Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (0.091; p=0.001, IC[0.070; 0.112]) apresentou o melhor desempenho quando da remoção de duas perguntas. Logo, estes resultados demonstraram que esta versão é similar à versão original, uma vez que a adaptação ao português implica que tenha menos duas perguntas que a versão original.
ABSTRACT - Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of premature death and morbidity worldwide, including in Portugal. The high prevalence of arterial hypertension contributes to the global burden of cardiovascular diseases, even being its main risk factor. About half of the patients with prescribed antihypertensive drugs discontinue their use during the first year of treatment, a behavior that is influenced by several factors. The main objective of this work was to validate The My Experience of Taking Medicines questionnaire for Portuguese. For this, the work was developed in four phases: firstly, the translation (English – Portuguese) and back-translation (Portuguese – English), carried out by independent, autonomous translators and native speakers of the language in question. Then, a pre-test was carried out with ten patients, who provided highly positive feedback. Subsequently, content validation and cultural adaptation were carried out using the Delphi technique, which demonstrated the relevance, quality of formulation/clarity, and adequacy of the Portuguese reality for the fourteen questions of the questionnaire. The last phase referred to psychometric validation, together with statistical analyses resulting from the application of the questionnaire in a reference hospital in cardiology.
