Abstract(s)
The main aim of this report, which was drawn up as part of the Supervised Professional Practice II (PPS II) course, included in the curriculum of the Master's Degree in Pre-School Education, is to present, in a critical and reflective way, the processes of educational intervention and research developed in a kindergarten context, over the course of approximately four months, with a group of twenty children aged between two and three. It also presents a critical-reflective analysis of the process of professional construction resulting from the training experienced, namely during the Supervised Professional Practices. During PPS II, I realized that there was a period in the daily routine dedicated to the outdoors. Consequently, these episodes aroused my interest and curiosity about the possibility of developing moments in the outdoor space with the group of children with whom I was doing the internship, but in a specific area without limits set by the adult, which in this context was the mud kitchen/garden area. Titled "Potentialities of the outdoor space in a kindergarten: Exploring, playing and growing without limits", the study's objectives were: (i) to map the children's games in the mud kitchens/garden; and (ii) to identify and analyze the potential of contact/exploration of the outdoor space without limits for the children. Considering the objectives set, we opted for a qualitative methodological approach. Data collection involved the use of different techniques and instruments, namely: direct participant and non-participant observation, through field notes and naturalistic records, and questionnaires with open-ended questions. Content analysis was used to process the data from the various sources. The results support the importance of the children's contact with the outdoors, in particular the mud kitchens, highlighting their contribution to the children's development. In fact, the results revealed that when children interact with this natural environment, without any kind of limits imposed by the adult, they create various games involving the natural elements at their disposal. It was also possible to see that these spaces encourage interaction between different peers. This investigation, and the course of it, made it possible to reflect on numerous events, thus helping to build my action as a future professional. I intend to be a professional who essentially values the child's active voice, as well as the outdoor space in its splendor, always allowing the child to develop freely and spontaneously.
