um recuo face ao Currículo Nacional que esteve em vigor entre 2001 e 2011, não só devido
ao facto de aquele documento não ter sido substituído por outro que oferecesse uma visão
curricular de conjunto para todo o ensino entre os 6 e os 15 anos de idade, como também por
abandonar a perspetiva do ensino e aprendizagem numa lógica de competências.
O presente artigo, tendo por base um estudo realizado numa turma de 3º ano do 1º Ciclo
do Ensino Básico, propõe-se analisar e refletir sobre a importância de continuar a trabalhar na
sala de aula, em particular no que diz respeito ao Estudo do Meio Social, numa lógica de desenvolvimento
de competências histórico-geográficas, demonstrando que tal não põe em causa a
abordagem dos conteúdos incluídos no programa daquela área disciplinar, nem o cumprimentos
dos objetivos gerais preconizados.
Summary Development of historical and geographical skills in Social Studies of the 1st year of Basic Education. Is it still possible? The curriculum guidelines that have been adopted in basic education represent a setback compared to the National Curriculum which was in force between 2001 and 2011, not only due to the fact that it has not been replaced by another one offering a general curriculum vision for teaching those between 6 and 15 years old, as for abandoning the perspective of teaching and learning in a logic of competencies. This article, based on a study held in a 3rd year class of the 1st cycle of basic education, aims to analyze and reflect on the importance of working in classroom, particularly regarding Social Studies, in a logic of developing historical and geographical skills, demonstrating that this does not question the approach to the contents included in the program of this subject area or the fulfillment of the general objectives.
