Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - This research project was intended to appraise the impact of the use of non-conventional musical notation on a non-school context. This was done through workshops oriented by the Masters degree student. Drawing possible parallels with the specialized music teaching, learning methodologies were proposed in order to allow, in an innovative way, the introduction of notation in a school context. The investigation process was made from direct observation and from the analysis of the questionnaires answered by the workshops participants and of the video recordings (documenting the artistic, pedagogic and research process). In a dark room, a Light Score was projected by 6 overhead projectors. 120 non-musician participants (children and adults) empirically created their compositions. They shaped sound according to form and form according to sound. The result was rewarding: the creation of propitious conditions to the maximum development of the creative expression (individual and collective) of the participants ā trough the unbound use of symbols, images, objects and materials - culminated on a true establishment of musical correlation through vocal resources. This project, āThe Light Scoreā, was an opportunity to relate the artistic approach ā musical, plastic and graphical ā and the human approach ā pedagogical and social.
