Abstract(s)
Abstract The report hereby presented has been conceived within the discipline of Supervised Teaching Practice Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education and Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the 2nd cycle of Basic Education in School of Education of Lisbon and includes a reflection on the entire course developed throughout the practice of intervention. In this paper you can find an investigation driven by students' lack of interest in Natural Science classes. The change in the way in which learning is organized and stimulates can, among other elements and resources, pass through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as an innovative, focused and motivating teaching and learning strategy. Thus, a study was conceived to explore if the use of ICT would be a motivational factor for the learning of the Natural Sciences. The sample of the study corresponds to the group where the Supervised Teaching Practice related to the 2nd cycle took place, constituted by a group of twenty six students of the 5th year of schooling of Basic Education, between the ages of ten and fourteen years old. The research was elaborated in three great stages, initiated by the construction and application of a questionnaire with the objective of quantifying the initial level of fondness related to the learning of Sciences, conceptions about technology and interest in its use in the classroom. Subsequent to the application of the questionnaire, the use of ICT was used to plan and produce materials, activities and classes that promoted the interest and motivation to build knowledge in the area of Natural Sciences. Finally, after the technological intervention, a questionnaire was applied to gauge the students' perception of ICT use and to evaluate possible changes in the fondness for science learning in order to verify if there was a change in the motivation of the students. There was an increase in the motivation of the students for the learning of the sciences, inside and outside the classroom.
