Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - Framed to Specialized Dance Teaching, this reflection approaches, specifically, the “agent” that, in a long term and in a less visible way to the audience, participates and contributes, in an “occult” way for the act of dancing – the Dance teacher. The importance and the specificity of the body in Dance gets established – as performative art – and in the learning processes, expression and representation. It is pleaded that the systematic practice of Dance Technique, as a way to train the body, becomes an imperative asset in the dancer’s education. Specialized Dance Teaching in Portugal is referred in a shorten form. The functioning Schools in the 2014/2015 school year are identified by presenting the creation chronology of each one, its different levels of teaching and its geographic localization. Some singularities are identified as essential to a dance technique teacher, explaining their valences in the teaching/ learning process and justifies the legitimacy of “claim”. It concludes reaffirming the significance and scope of a technique teacher to the dancers training valuing affective, educational, technical and artistic dimensions.
