Abstract(s)
Realizado no ano de 1970, o filme Husbands é a quinta longa metragem do realizador e ator
John Cassavetes.
ABSTRACT - Directed in 1970, the film Husbands is the fifth feature film by director and actor John Cassavetes. In the film, a trio of middle-aged men are mourning the death of a fourth friend. In this process of crisis, they reveal values of their interiority, intensely figured through the choices of direction. The work is dedicated to the identification and reflection on the particular configuration of masculinity experienced by the characters Harry (Ben Gazzara), Gus (John Cassavetes) and Archie (Peter Falk) through sociological, anthropological and psychological knowledge. The work covers the extensive areas of filmmaking, analyzing the expressive value resulting from director’s producing choices and reflecting on different aspects revealed by the characters in conjunction with the issue of masculinity. At the end, we reveal the intrinsic and transparent interplay between director and work, as is the case with Cassavetes, as well as the mechanisms put into practice for the production of a unique work such as Husbands.
