Abstract(s)
Participaram no estudo 23 alunos.
Abstract This report was developed within the scope of the Practical Curricular Unit of Supervised Teaching II, of the 2nd year of the Master's Degree in Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education and of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education. The purpose of this report, present in the first part, is a synthetic description of the practice that took place in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education (CEB) and in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education (CEB), and a critical and reflective analysis of the practice that took place in the referred cycles and in the second, the presentation of a research study that emerged from the practices, more specifically from the practice of the 1.ºCEB. The research entitled "COVID-19 as a scenario for the development of STEM activities" aimed to understand the contributions of a STEM activity developed in a 3rd year of schooling, considering the following specific objectives: i) Characterize the learning of the curricular areas involved in the sequence of activities; ii) Describe the student’s perspectives on the activities developed. For this purpose, a qualitative methodology was used and favored participant observation and document analysis as a data collection technique. Twenty-three students from a 3rd year class participated in the study. The results of the study allow us to understand the contributions made by carrying out STEM activities, with health being an important context for the recognition of numbers and relationships between them, the mathematical activity thus led to an understanding of the rapid growth of cases of infection, as the activity in the context of the study of the environment, it led to the understanding of how the disease in question, how we can avoid its contagion and how it spreads. In this study, the motivation and interest of the participants during the sequence of activities was visible, which could also highlight the mobilization of knowledge from the various curriculum areas, such as the learning that comes from them. The results were within what was expected, meeting the objectives defined for the sequence of activities.
