Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - This study addresses the interaction between the piano syllabus in Portuguese specialized music courses at secondary level, and the functioning of those conservatoires where it is taught, taking into account the external social factors that influence that system. It is possible to observe multiple interactions between factors arising from each of those three domains that contribute to structural problems in music curriculums, with impact on the students’ academic course. This study is aimed at providing grounds for discussion on the issue of artistic curriculum, which happens naturally, although misinformed or less objective, between participants of that educational circle, and to foment that discussion where it isn’t spontaneous, but nonetheless necessary.
