Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: The aim of this dissertation is to outline the sociographic profile of women who, between february 1 and april 30, 2024, commented in the informational spaces of RTP (Telejornal and Jornal 2). This research falls within the scope of political communication studies. Previous research conducted within portuguese academia has mainly focused on diachronic analyses, attempting to understand the transformations in commentary spaces over the past decades, as well as the sociographic profile of commentators in different media formats (Figueiras, 2005; 2008; 2011; 2019). About the presence of women in commentary spaces, studies are still limited or almost non-existent, a gap that this dissertation will attempt to partially fill. The methodological approach adopted is fundamentally qualitative, relying on documentary techniques for data collection: research, reading, and critical analysis of academic literature in this field, as well as the research and analysis of documentation from the respective channels. This was essential for constructing the analytical framework, which allowed for outlining the sociographic profile of the commentators, as well as understanding the role they play in the informational spaces under study. The results of this research reveal that, contrary to what might be expected from a public channel, the main figures in the commentary sections of Telejornal (RTP1) and Jornal 2 (RTP2) are predominantly male.
