ABSTRACT - Held as part of the Masters Course in Dance Teaching, taught by the Escola Superior de Dança - Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa, the internship report presented intends to be a faithful account of the study we developed at the Conservatório Regional Silva Marques, in Alhandra, in the academic year of 2019/20 with 4th year class students of the Specialized Artistic Course in Dance, consisting of thirteen elements, twelve female and one male. It is unanimously recognized that breathing plays a fundamental role in dance, being essential, for example, to the quality of movement, expressiveness, and physical condition, among other factors. In view of this undeniable importance, we wondered why the theme of breathing was so often outside the work developed in the training of dancers, becoming a weakness so often observed, especially in the Classical Dance Technique classes. Through the bibliographic review carried out we were able to confirm that breathing can benefit Dance students, not only in the progression of their technical and artistic skills, but also in other dimensions, since it interferes in the individual's physical and mental balance. The main objective of this work was to make students aware of the benefits of using conscious and efficient breathing during the Classical Dance Technique class. To this end, we set out to guide them in this discovery, developing strategies and practices for that purpose. Considering the various stages of our internship and also the cyclical character that characterizes it, we have been designing different approaches to serve the progress of our work. This qualitative study was based on the Action-Research paradigm and the data collection instruments used were the questionnaire, the structured observation table, the audio visual record and the logbook.
