Abstract(s)
This final report is part of the Supervised Teaching Practice II Curricular Unit, which is part of the Master's Degree in Teaching the 1st Cycle of Basic Education and Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education, at the School of Education, part of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. This Curricular Unit proposes the implementation of two educational interventions in different teaching cycles, in the 1st and 2nd Cycles of Basic Education, and the preparation of an investigative study. The study presented in this report emerged from the following problem: Legends and historical narratives are didactic resources that allow us to develop historical-geographical skills, namely communication in History and Geography. The following research objectives were set: (i) Analyze how students define and apply concepts related to historical-geographical knowledge in HGP, based on reading and interpreting historical narratives; (ii) Recognize the ability to identify elements that contribute to understanding the historical context of a legend; and (iii) Analyze the processes of written reconstruction of legends from the History and Geography of Portugal, based on oral communication. The methodology used was of a mixed nature. Statistical data was collected and reflected in the worksheets used to explore a historical narrative and, at a later stage, a content analysis was carried out on the different written productions obtained from the study of this historical narrative and some legends. The data obtained allows us to state that: (i) by reading and interpreting historical narratives, students are able to work on defining historical and geographical concepts and applying them; (ii) thanks to historical contextualization, present in expository motifs and dialogue with the students, understanding the legend is made easier; (iii) through oral communication it is possible to reconstruct legends.
