Ensaia-se uma tentativa de compreensão do sentido de comédia na peça de Gil Vicente, Comedia sobre a devisa da cidade de Coimbra, recorrendo-se para tal a uma análise culto da nobiliarquia então vigente, da composição da corte do rei de Portugal, D. João III e à pesquisa da encenação produzida especificamente para um público particular.
