Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - The school needs to change and, above all, to choose goals and find effective method-ologies to achieve them. The school is thought from the priority of ensuring equality be-tween individuals, to pursue social equality. The role of the school in the reproduction of inequalities is discussed, introducing the relationship between economic capital and cul-tural capita. As a strategy for a possible change in school, it is identified the importance of research, i.e., to mitigate economic and cultural inequalities, the school must be con-cerned with teaching the students to investigate, preparing them for the uncertainty of the future, for the adaptation to varied contexts, and for self-realisation. This change considers the project-based education. The reflections are addressed to compulsory schooling, up to the 9th grade, before the initiation to specialisation. Some hypotheses of changes in the education system are indicated.
