Abstract(s)
Grupo Impresa e Francisco Pinto Balsemão, enquanto fundador e atual presidente do Conselho
principais tópicos da liderança transformacional: influência idealizada; liderança inspiracional;
ABSTRACT: In a constantly changing society, organizations must be able to adapt to each moment, according to their needs. In this sense, the organizational leader is the main precursor of an effective work dynamic. Based on specific characteristics and competencies, the leader must promote example, competence and respect, so that employees feel motivated and attracted to their daily work. However, different organizations and managers have different methods and models for managing their work and their employees. To this end, the Impresa Group and Francisco Pinto Balsemão, as founder and current chairman of the Board of Directors, were determined as a case study. With the aim of analyzing "What is the leadership style and interpersonal communication of the Impresa Group's managers and how are they perceived by the employees?", an investigation was carried out using a mixed methodology (qualitative and quantitative), through an interview with the leader Pinto Balsemão and questionnaire surveys of a sample (N=177) of the Group's employees. Through the interview and questionnaire surveys, we intended to know the leadership style and interpersonal communication between managers and their employees, focusing on the main topics of transformational leadership: idealized influence; inspirational leadership; intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration (Bass, 1999). We conclude that, in this case study, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, as well as the other managers, adopt transformational leadership, with emphasis on the competencies of idealized influence, with a strong impact on the organizational environment. Regarding the communication style, the Group's managers favor open and social communication, with a focus on thoughtful decision making, based on active listening and open dialogue with other professionals.
