Abstract(s)
Abstract - This dissertation is organized in two sections. The first one refers to the Internship Report conducted at the Conservatório de Música, Dança e Arte Dramática de Lisboa ( Lisbon Music, Dance and Dramatic Arts Conservatory) (CMDADL) and the second part embrances the research carried out, entitled: "Instrument teacher: a motivational element for a life change." The Internship at CMDADL aims at the pedagogical review of the work done with three students from the Preparatory Course, 1st and 3th Grades of the Basic Course of Music. Technical and musical evaluation of each student was held and thus lessons plans have been prepared for the school year. Various technical and performing issues were dealt with in order to meet the objectives outlined. Despite the difficulties that arose throughout the year, all the three students showed up at the class auditions and the end result turned out to be positive, not only for the students but also for me as a teacher. The project Orquestra Geração (Generation Orchestra), OG, is inspired by the ideology of the El Sistema project, created in Venezuela. This program has been implemented in Bairro da Boavista (Lisbon), more specifically at Escola Básica do 1º Ciclo/Jardim de Infância Arquitecto Ribeiro Telles (Kindergarten/Primary School) and aims at social inclusion through intensive orchestra practice. This study intends to verify not only the behavioural evolution, encouraged by the project Orquestra Geração in Bairro da Boavista, but also the intellectual and behavioural changes that teachers can make in themselves to become the first choice of students. The study included the elaboration of a survey that was distributed to students attending OG, and interviews with some parents and teachers from the orchestra.
