Abstract(s)
Este projeto pretende refletir sobre a temática do medo do futuro no cinema distópico através da concretização prática das cenas iniciais da curta-metragem de ficção A Sala da Floresta. O objeto prático é fruto de uma reflexão sobre a relação do cinema com o os filmes de desastre natural ou climático no seu viés antropocêntrico, bem como da análise prática do conceito de worldbuilding e o seu papel no desenvolvimento cinematográfico contemporâneo.
Analisam-se as etapas do desenvolvimento de uma forma comparativa entre a produção abrangida pelo contexto académico e o resultado proposto. O mesmo conta com as primeiras cenas de um filme onde uma jovem resiste sozinha a uma atmosfera tóxica, sobrevivendo de máscara respiratória numa cidade-fantasma, e que parte à procura de moradias subterrâneas que encontra anunciadas num folheto imobiliário.
Propõe-se assim a exploração do processo conceptual e prático, refletindo sobre a construção unívoca de uma só intenção narrativa. Na possibilidade de atualização da ficção científica como ponte para o momento presente, aplica-se a abordagem cinematográfica pós-apocalíptica como meio artístico para o questionamento da sustentabilidade perante a separação do sujeito humano da Natureza.
ABSTRACT - This project aims to reflect on the theme of fear of the future in dystopian cinema through the production of the initial scenes of the fictional short film The Forest Room. The practical object stems from a reflection on the relationship between cinema and natural or climate disaster films through their anthropocentric lens, as well as a practical analysis of the concept of worldbuilding and its role in contemporary cinematic development. The stages of development are analyzed in a comparative manner, contrasting the production within the academic context with the proposed outcome. It features the first scenes of a film where a young woman survives alone in a toxic atmosphere, relying on a respirator mask in a ghost town, and sets out to find underground dwellings advertised in a real estate leaflet. Thus, the exploration of the conceptual and practical process is proposed, reflecting on the singular construction of one single narrative intention. In the possibility of updating science fiction as a bridge to the present moment, the post-apocalyptic cinematic approach is applied as an artistic means to question sustainability in the face of the separation of the human subject from Nature.
