Abstract(s)
A presente investigação teve como objetivo primordial a análise dos estudos de adaptação, na ótica da produção, enquadrados no contexto tecnológico e audiovisual atual. Para este estudo, considerou-se a série Normal People, que é baseada na obra homónima de Sally Rooney. A discussão presente neste trabalho pretende evidenciar as diferenças entre a obra literária e a sua expressão audiovisual, assim como a forma como a narrativa é transportada para um novo contexto. A divergência de posicionamento dos diversos autores revela que esta é uma temática complexa pela forma como pressupõe que uma obra é dependente da outra e que a adaptação deve a sua identidade à literatura. Optou-se por uma abordagem metodológica quantitativa, a partir da análise de conteúdo. Observaram-se as caraterísticas de dois capítulos e dois episódios correspondentes, no que diz respeito às personagens, cenários e cenas. Com esta análise foi possível entender as escolhas feitas pela equipa de produção e de que forma se comporta a narrativa nos dois contextos. Os resultados evidenciaram a necessidade de distanciar uma obra da outra e imputar-lhes a mesma credibilidade, desvalorizando o conceito de fidelidade. No processo de adaptação revelou-se que os elementos se apropriam das caraterísticas do meio e enquadram-se mediante as ferramentas disponíveis, assim como a expectativa do público em relação à obra. Através deste estudo, aprofundamos a compreensão de que existem divergências significativas entre a obra literária e audiovisual, contextualizadas numa sociedade cada vez mais tecnológica, ativa e interveniente na produção de conteúdo.
ABSTRACT: The main aim of this research is to analyse adaptation studies from a production perspective, within the current technological and audiovisual context. For this study, we considered the series Normal People, which is based on Sally Rooney's novel of the same name. The discussion in this paper aims to highlight the differences between the literary work and its audiovisual expression and how the narrative is transported to a new context. The divergent positions of the various authors reveal that this is a complex subject because of the way it assumes that one work is dependent on the other and that the adaptation owes its identity to literature. A quantitative methodological approach was chosen, based on content analysis. The characteristics of two chapters and two corresponding episodes were analysed in terms of characters, settings and scenes. This analysis enabled us to understand the choices made by the production team and how the narrative behaves in the two contexts. The results showed the need to distance one work from the other and give them the same credibility, devaluing the concept of fidelity. The adaptation process revealed that the elements take on the characteristics of the format and fit in with the tools available, as well as the audience's expectations of the work. Through this study, we have come to understand that there are significant differences between literary and audiovisual works, contextualised in a society that is increasingly technological, active and intervening in the production of content.
