O Meu Coração Não É Para Cobardes é um projeto cultural que teve como resultado final um espetáculo. Este espetáculo contou com a participação das jovens da Fundação “O Século” em São Pedro do Estoril/Portugal. A Fundação “O Século” tem dois lares de acolhimento, onde estas jovens vivem devido a diversas razões relativas a disfunções familiares.
Pretendeu-se com este espetáculo contar histórias de amor mal resolvidas, tendo como ponto de partida elementos autobiográficos das jovens participantes. Tomamos como princípio que as histórias de amor começam com a primeira relação materna e/ou paterna. Por isso, o palco foi usado como espaço de catarse artística e ferramenta de empoderamento para as jovens. Foram abordados temas como o abandono, a violência e abusos, mas também coragem, determinação e força de viver. Este foi, em suma, um espetáculo de empowerment feminino, isto é, um lugar onde se constrói e se ensina a construir.
Como base de trabalho, apoiámo-nos no livro Mulheres que correm com os lobos (2016) da psicanalista americana Clarisse Pinkola Estés (1945) que, numa perspetiva junguiana, explora as definições do arquétipo da mulher selvagem. Este arquétipo da mulher selvagem descrito pela autora está intimamente ligado com o conceito de empoderamento feminino, ou seja, a mulher com as suas faculdades em pleno, com a sua intuição e instinto apurados e confiante das suas escolhas.
O psicólogo norte-americano Julian Rappaport (1960) registou o termo empowerment a partir da palavra power para defender que era preciso dar ferramentas a certos grupos oprimidos para que estes tivessem condições e autonomia. De seguida este mesmo conceito foi usado nos anos 1980 pela psicologia comunitária e, nos anos 1990, pelos movimentos que procuram afirmar o direito de cidadania sobre distintas esferas sociais.
Empowerment pela arte do teatro foi a proposta para a transformação desta comunidade
ABSTRACT - My Heart is Not Home for Cowards is a cultural project that results in a theatre show. The play was performed by young girls that live at Fundação “O Século” in São Pedro do Estoril/Portugal, which is a home for children and teens that are taken from their families for many different reasons. This theatre play had the goal of telling unsolved love stories and it was created based on the participant’s references and biographies. Love stories start with our first relationship, so it means it starts with our mother and/or father. Therefore it was used the stage as a space of artistic catharsis and a tool for empowerment to these young girls. The play also talks not only about abandon, violence, abuses, but also courage, will power and strength. It can be said that this is a play of empowerment: a save place to build and to teach how to build. As a startup inspiration for the work it was used the book from the American psychoanalyst Clarisse Pinkola Estés (1945) - Women that run with the wolves - that, in a Jungian perspective, explores the definition of the wild woman archetype. Those are concepts the author uses to describe the wild women that live inside each and every women (a concept that relies on the basis for empowerment and strength within). The North American psychologist Julian Rappaport registered the term empowerment based on the word power to defend that was necessary to give tools to certain oppressed groups so they could have certain conditions and autonomy. After this first approach to this concept it was after used by different areas such as community psychology during the 80ies, and on the 90is by movements that look to defend citizens rights. The concept of empowerment is the proposal to transform this community.
