Abstract A growing number of companies are integrating environmental and social responsibilities into their procurement strategies, to improve their efficiency and reduce negative impacts on the environment and society. Organizations invest in environmental certification, symbolizing responsibility and commitment to the environment, promoting greater cooperation with partners who share the same values. Organizations that engage in sustainable procurement can reap a few benefits, including reduced environmental impact, resource savings and improved reputation. It is therefore important to understand the main determinants of sustainable procurement for environmentally certified organizations. This study aims to identify the factors that promote sustainable procurement and the main obstacles to sustainable procurement in ISO 14001:2015 certified companies. To this end, a questionnaire was carried out based on a literature review, receiving 129 responses from a total of 1180 companies. The results were analyzed using SPSS v28 software through descriptive analysis and nonparametric analysis with the Kruskal- Wallis H test. The study presents the main driving factors and barriers encountered, and provides useful clues for managers, researchers and policy makers.
