Abstract(s)
The current Master’s Final Project refers to the realization of a curricular internship, with a duration of 4 months in the Department of Infrastructures and Transports, in the company SENER-ENGIVIA, Consultores de Engenharia, S.A., as part of the Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, specialized in the area of Communication Routes and Transports, of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa. In the Internship, I was able to collaborate in different kinds of infrastructure projects: in roads; airport construction field; participate in a public tender for the contract construction of a road. Of all the various conducted activities during the Internship, the monitoring of an international project of a road infrastructure “Duplication, improvement and expansion of the capacity and security of the Highway BR-381 / MG “of a 29 km section’s, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This fact has raised quite an interest, not only for being an international project, but also for the fact that various kinds of interventions were being arranged, associated to an already existing road. Through this collaboration, a case study emerged which will be used as support to the Master’s Final Project, in other words, it will be the comparison basis for the analysis of the laid out geometry of the Portuguese and Brazilian Regulations. This comparative analyses between Regulations is accompanied by the case study of 2 segments of the previous referred Road BR-381 in order to allow an effective application of the respective regulation documents. The first segment will represent one zone where the duplication of the existent road will occur and the second segment corresponds to a new traffic lane that will be constructed. With this study, the purpose is to conduct an optimization of the layout solutions, setting out not only the resulting layout differences of the application of each Regulation, but also what could be improved in terms of layout design and in particular road safety, if it was possible the combination of each country’s Regulation criterias.
