Abstract(s)
GILM – Informal Group on Media Literacy is a Portuguese network, created in 2009, whose main aim is to promote media education and to emphasise the importance of better levels of media literacy for all citizens. In the beginning, it was made up of five members but, since then, it has grown to a total of 13 permanent members, all of them public institutions. Throughout the years the group has also been engaged in several collaborations aiming at the cooperation of its members with a view to sharing relevant information, carrying out initiatives that may benefit from the synergies of the various participating entities, contributing to define public policies of media literacy, as well as promoting common actions available to society.
