Resumen - Este proyecto artístico tiene como finalidad conocer en profundidad la obra y trayectoria del gran violinista español, Manuel Quiroga. A pesar de tener una carrera musical brillante, no obtuvo nunca la fama que se merecía en su país natal. Esto me planteó una serie de cuestiones y la búsqueda de las causas que he intentado responder a lo largo de la redacción de este trabajo.
Empezaré, primeramente, encuadrando a la persona en la etapa cultural concreta que le tocó vivir, exponiendo el marco histórico donde se desenvuelve toda su obra y, posteriormente iré haciendo más pequeña el área de investigación centrándome en algunas de sus obras, que serán las que se interpretarán en el recital.
Aunque su carrera musical fue sobre todo reconocida por su trabajo como solista no debemos olvidar su labor compositiva que se centra en música para violín con acompañamiento de piano o de orquesta de cuerdas.
En este sentido expondré un catálogo de todas sus composiciones comparándolas con la obra de Pablo Sarasate, ya que Manuel Quiroga siempre fue considerado como “el sucesor” de éste.
Aunque Manuel Quiroga no ha tenido la transcendencia en el tiempo merecida sí que tuvo gran repercusión en el ámbito musical del momento. Por este motivo mencionaré las obras que otros compositores de renombre le dedicaron.
Por último, la profundización en la vida y obra de Manuel Quiroga nos llevará al planteamiento de unas conclusiones que espero sirvan de clave para sacar a la luz la gran obra de este músico y compositor.
ABSTRACT - This artistic project aims to deeply explore the work and career of the great Spanish violinist Manuel Quiroga. Despite having a brilliant musical career, he never obtained the fame he deserved in his native country. This raised a series of questions, the causes of which I have tried to answer throughout the writing of this work. I will first begin by framing the person in the specific cultural stage that he lived in, exposing the historical setting where his work was developed. Subsequently, I will focus the research on some of his works, which will be the ones performed in the recital. Although his musical career was mostly recognized for his work as a soloist, I must not forget his compositions, predominantly for violin with accompaniment of piano or string orchestra. In this sense, I will expose a catalog of his compositions comparing them with the work of Pablo Sarasate, since Manuel Quiroga was always considered "his successor". Even though Manuel Quiroga has not received the deserved fame with the passing of the time, he did have a great repercussion in the musical field of the moment. For this reason, I will mention the works that other renowned composers dedicated to him. Finally, with the better understanding of the life and output of Manuel Quiroga, I will present some conclusions that will serve as the key to uncover the great work of this musician and composer.
