Abstract(s)
A Sonata para Piano nº 3 em Si menor, op. 58, de Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin representa
o auge do seu período composicional tardio e é uma das obras mais desafiantes do
repertório para piano solo. Esta tese tem como objetivo explorar as nuances da
interpretação desta sonata, oferecendo uma análise detalhada da sua estrutura e material
temático, bem como reflexões filosóficas sobre interpretação e considerações sobre
questões técnicas associadas à execução, de forma a apresentar o processo de construção
de um projecto artístico completo.
A metodologia utilizada inclui uma revisão da literatura, análise comparativa de
diferentes edições da obra, e comentários sobre várias gravações consideradas de
referência, tanto de estúdio como ao vivo. Esta tese, portanto, busca uma compreensão
mais profunda desta obra-prima através do estudo do seu contexto histórico, as suas
complexidades estruturais e os seus desafios interpretativos.
ABSTRACT: Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor, op. 58, represents the peak of his late compositional period and is one of the most challenging works in the solo piano repertoire. This thesis aims to explore the nuances of the interpretation of this sonata, offering a detailed analysis of its structure and thematic material, as well as philosophical reflections on interpretation and considerations on technical issues associated to performance, in order to present the process of building a complete artistic project. The methodology used includes a literature review, comparative analysis of different editions of the work, and comments on several both studio and live recordings, considered to be references. This thesis, therefore, seeks a deeper understanding of this masterpiece through the study of its the historical context, structural complexities, and interpretative challenges.
