Abstract(s)
A prostituição é um fenómeno social que, devido à sua complexidade, provoca muitas vezes um debate intenso e polarizado, podendo revelar-se uma discussão social e política controversa que invisibiliza, algumas vezes, importantes vivências e vozes de quem o vive na primeira pessoa. Esta dissertação procura, por isso, aprofundar a problemática das mulheres-mãe em contexto de prostituição, analisando as suas narrativas e discursos sobre diversas dimensões: família, maternidade e representação pessoal.
O enquadramento epistemológico e teórico assenta num diálogo entre a Sociologia e a Educação Social e Intervenção Comunitária sobre a influência da cultura patriarcal, capitalista e colonialista na construção social do papel e da imagem da mulher; na caraterização sociojurídica e dos modelos legislativos da prostituição à escala nacional e internacional; e, por fim, é feita, também, uma breve análise e contextualização teórica dos conceitos de maternidade e família.
Assumindo uma investigação de natureza qualitativa, foram realizadas cinco entrevistas semidiretivas, com inspiração nos pressupostos das histórias de vida, a mulheres que estão ou estiveram em contexto de prostituição, com um/a ou mais filhos/as. Foi, ainda, realizada uma entrevista à Educadora Social que acompanha aquelas mulheres. A opção por esta última entrevista foi fundamental para completar dados e possibilitar a reflexão sobre a intervenção social que se faz (ou não) sobre este fenómeno a partir da lente da condição de ser mulher e mãe. De referir que no desenvolvimento desta dissertação, as opções metodológicas tiveram que ser repensadas em função da situação pandémica. A análise de conteúdo das entrevistas permite afirmar que os percursos e vivências destas mulheres são caraterizados por momentos traumáticos e de violência, mas que não desfazem a sua potencialidade enquanto mães, assumindo a maternidade como vetor fulcral das suas vidas. Procura-se, através deste trabalho, promover uma reflexão interna na equipa participante neste estudo.
Abstract Prostitution, due to its complexity, often provokes polarized debate and may cause controversial social and political discussions. These discussions often discard important experiences of those who live in it. This dissertation therefore seeks to examine the problem of mothers in the context of prostitution, analyzing their narratives on various dimensions: family, maternity and personal representation. The epistemological and theoretical framework is based on a dialogue between Sociology, Social Education and Community Intervention on the influence of patriarchal, capitalist and colonialist culture in the social construction of the role and image of women; the socio-legal character and legislative models of prostitution at national and international level; and, finally, a brief analysis and theoretical contextualization of the concepts of motherhood and family is also made. Assuming a qualitative investigation, five semi-directive interviews were conducted, inspired by the assumptions of life stories, to women who are or have been in the context of prostitution, with one or more children. An interview was also held with the Social Educator who accompanies these women. The choice for this last interview was fundamental to complete data and enable reflection on the social intervention that is made (or not) on this phenomenon from the lens of being a woman and mother. It should be noted that in the development of this dissertation, the methodological options had to be rethought due to the pandemic situation. The content analysis of the interviews allows to affirm that the paths and experiences of these women are characterized by traumatic moments and violence, but that do not undo their potential as mothers, assuming motherhood as the central vector of their lives. It is sought to promote an internal reflection in the institution that participated in this study.
