Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: Radio is a simple yet highly multifaceted medium. Over the years, it was thought that radio would die out with the emergence of television, the Internet, and later, online social media. However, it quickly became apparent how versatile and adaptable this medium is to any emerging technology. Radio had to adapt itself to modern times and radio journalists and professionals found themselves compelled to modernize their practices and professional routines to meet the demands and new needs of listeners. It wasn't just technological advancements that forced radio professionals to adapt: in 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic led many journalists to adjust their work to the circumstances imposed by this public health crisis. In this regard, this work aims to analyse the influence that the pandemic had (and continues to have) on the work and daily routines of radio journalists; investigate how online social media aided these professionals, and also, try to understand the changes that the pandemic has introduced in newsmaking routines.
