Abstract(s)
O serviço público de televisão desempenha um papel fundamental relativamente à
construção de significados sociais e culturais. Em Portugal, a RTP assume-se como a estação
de serviço público para toda a sociedade, incluindo maiorias e minorias. Com a criação da
RTP Play, a televisão pública portuguesa passou a estar disponível, gratuitamente, através
da plataforma de streaming. A comunidade LGBTQIA+, marcada historicamente por
avanços e recuos constantes, encontrou nas webséries de ficção uma forma de se fazer ouvir,
através da criação de personagens que refletem a luta constante das minorias sexuais e/ou de
género. Desta maneira, os objetivos desta investigação passam por compreender a forma
como a comunidade LGBTQIA+ é representada em webséries portuguesas da RTP Lab. Os
resultados alcançados aferem que a representação de pessoas de minorias sexuais e/ou de
género nas webséries #CasaDoCais, 5Starz e Rui é feita com base em estereótipos, arcos
narrativos inovadores, episódios de discriminação e violência e várias referências culturais.
Assim, a RTP deve continuar a produzir conteúdo com temática LGBTQIA+ de forma a
combater preconceitos socialmente estabelecidos, contribuindo para a educação e formação
continua da sociedade portuguesa.
ABSTRACT Public service television plays a key role in the construction of social and cultural meanings. In Portugal, RTP assumes itself as the public service station for the whole society, including majorities and minorities. With the creation of RTP Play, portuguese public television is now available for free through the streaming platform. The LGBTQIA+ community, historically marked by constant advances and setbacks, has found in fictional webseries a way to make itself heard, through the creation of characters that reflect the constant struggle of sexual and/or gender minorities. Therefore, the objectives of this research are to understand how the LGBTQIA+ community is represented in portuguese RTP Lab webseries. The results show that the representation of people from sexual and/or gender minorities in the webseries #CasaDoCais, 5Starz and Rui is based on stereotypes, innovative narrative arcs, episodes of discrimination and violence and several cultural references. Thus, RTP should continue to produce LGBTQIA+ themed content in order to combat socially established prejudices, contributing to the education and continuing training of portuguese society.
