Abstract(s)
The main focus of the present research is the study of the impact of the telecommuting regime on worker satisfaction. According to Locke (1976), job satisfaction is revealed in the emotional attitude that everyone has towards his or her work. Thus, directly or indirectly, employee satisfaction can have a substantial influence on the development of the company's human capital (Bontis & Fitz-Enz, 2002). On the other hand, the pandemic situation that has occurred since late 2019 has transformed jobs all around the world, in such a way that workers were forced to adapt to a new reality and, consequently, to a new method of work, telecommuting. The research methodology used was the application of a questionnaire survey to a group of workers who were telecommuting. The study used a convenience sample consisting of 185 respondents. In the survey there are questions about the satisfaction of workers in the traditional regime (face-to-face regime) versus telecommuting, regarding the impact that the pandemic situation had on their firms and, finally, questions were asked to assess which work regime the respondents preferred. The analysis of the results allowed us to conclude that in a traditional regime the respondents generally felt satisfied at work, except for the rewards they received. However, in the context of telecommuting, it was concluded that the satisfaction of respondents, in general, did not have significant changes, except for some issues such as the feeling about whether their work is pleasant or not, and about the rewards they received. Finally, the results of the study showed that workers prefer to perform their work in a hybrid regime (i.e., on a rotational basis, alternating between face-to-face, telecommuting, or in the client’s office).
