Abstract(s)
ABSTRAT The scope of the attached report fits the Supervised Professional Exercise course unit – module II (PPS II), part of the first year in the Master of Preschool Education. The professional exercise took place between November 2020 and April 2021, in a preschool classroom of a private institute in the district of Setubal. This report is a speculative work and reasoned from my exercise as a future pedagogue, introducing the description of the socio-educational context, my intentions to all participants of the exercise, in an investigative work to which I offer to study, applied and analysed the data and, as a result, was able to build my professional identity. The theme for this research came from the fact that I am aware that children have the right to participate and be listened to, however often their voices are muffled by the pedagogue’s already established classroom framework. To that effect, I felt the need to study this thematic, titled as “As crianças têm voz, vamos ouvi-las – pelo direito a uma participação em JI” (The children have a voice, let’s listen to them – exercising the right to participation in Kindergarden”). I performed a qualitative research work following the main directives of research-action. In this sense, several different techniques and tools were used to gather data, with the focus in observing. The first goal was to identify and understand the children’s intentions having the pedagogue actively participating, as well as analysing their participation and finding strategies to increase the children to step in and participate in classroom activities.
