Children tend to be a forgotten public, a lot of times, communication for children is barely done, although it is very common to communicate for their families and other caregivers topics that concern the children. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has been all over the news and every other kind of communication in the last year and it affects directly every individual in the society, including children. However, it almost hasn’t been communicated to children, which is a topic of concern, being that risk communication is crucial in this case. So, this paper allows oneself to have a look at the risk communication made in Portugal that had children as the main target audience. Risk communication allows the dissemination of information that affects the public, it diminishes the damage to the organizations and also allows the stakeholders to keep their confidence and relationship with the organization. This way, the role of PR professionals is to respond to a crisis analyzing the most ideal time, response priorities, messages and their channels and media, as well as what are the main and secondary target audiences. We’re answering the question “How did the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus communicated to children between 3 and 12 years old by the governmental organizations and other institutions in Portugal?”, by analyzing information collected during the first wage of the pandemic, in march and april 2020. The data collected was then analyzed using a categorical thematic analysis.en
