A Organização Mundial de Saúde e o European Committee for Standardization, estabeleceram as guidelines para a formação em osteopatia. É fundamental que os estabelecimentos de ensino de osteopatia atinjam estes objetivos de modo a formar osteopatas efetivos e seguros. Atendendo aos desafios impostos pela evolução da osteopatia, emergiram várias questões quanto à composição das estruturas curriculares (EC) dos cursos de licenciatura em osteopatia em Portugal, assim como a carga horária respeitante às várias unidades curriculares (UC). Constitui objetivo geral deste trabalho analisar as EC das licenciaturas em osteopatia adotadas nas instituições em Portugal e no Espaço Europeu do Ensino Superior (EEES). Como metodologia utilizou-se uma revisão da literatura, aliada a um estudo descritivo, documental e comparativo das EC das licenciaturas em Portugal e no EEES, tendo como orientação as guidelines para o ensino da osteopatia. Conclui-se que apesar das atuais diretivas apontarem para uma formação de nível mestrado, com 240 ECTS, estas não são cumpridas na totalidade dos países. As escolas apresentam cursos diferentes, quer no tempo de duração quer na carga horária. Existe também uma diferença grande entre a relação do número de horas de trabalho autónomo e horas de contacto. A maioria não apresenta as EC detalhadas, dificultando a identificação do verdadeiro conteúdo de cada UC. Os resultados obtidos permitem servir de ponto de partida para um estudo mais aprofundado da formação em osteopatia, tendo em conta as metodologias de ensino, assim como o envolvimento do estudante no seu próprio processo de aprendizagem.
ABSTRACT - The World Health Organization and the European Committee for Standardization established the guidelines for training in osteopathy. It is essential that Osteopathy teaching establishments achieve these goals in order to form effective and safe osteopaths. In view of the challenges posed by the evolution of Osteopathy, several questions emerged regarding the composition of the Curricular Structures of the degree courses in Osteopathy in Portugal, as well as the hours related to the various Curricular Units. It is a general objective of this study to analyze the Curricular Structures of the degrees in Osteopathy adopted in the institutions in Portugal and in the European Space of Higher Education. As a methodology, a review of the literature was used, together with a descriptive, documentary and comparative study of the Curricular Structures of the degrees in Portugal and in the European Space of Higher Education, based on the guidelines for the teaching of Osteopathy. It is concluded that although the current directives point to a masters level training with 240 ECTS, these are not fulfilled in all countries. Schools have different courses, both in terms of duration and time. There is also a large difference between the ratio of the number of autonomous working hours and contact hours. Most do not present the detailed curricular structures, making it difficult to identify the true content of each curricular unit. The results obtained can serve as a starting point for a more detailed study of the degrees in osteopathy, taking into account the teaching methodologies, as well as the students' involvement in their own learning process.
