Abstract(s)
Angola was in the last decade one of the economies with the largest and fastest economic growth. This was marked by a significant increase of Angola ́s gross national product, by a sharpen fall of its inflation and interest rates. Angola ́s growth could be explained as well by the raise of foreign reserves and the increase of exportations. In the last years, trade between Angola and Portugal has known a sustainable growth, with Angolan investments increasing to 93%, from 2008 to 2012. The internationalization of several Angolan Groups in Portugal is now a reality, functioning Portugal as a strategic entrance for other European destinations. The two studied groups, Refriango and Bartolomeu Dias, present different internationalization strategies, particularly in their expansion to Portugal. The Refriango Group has focused on internationalization, and is already present in 22 countries. In Portugal, the company used as its main strategies the establishment of a partnership with Delta Cafés, in 2014, and its strong investment in communication and marketing, and disseminating the brands in various communication channels and associating them with sporting and cultural events. The Bartolomeu Dias Group has maintained a reserved communication position, and investing more cautiously on internationalization. Currently, dedicated to various activities such as construction, hotel, logistics and trading, the Group has offices in 3 countries, in addition to Angola. Its internationalization model involves the creation of subsidiaries, where it invests in researching potential businesses in its areas of operation. In Portugal the strategy was equivalent, with the opening of a Lisbon subsidiary in 2010.
