Abstract(s)
posteriormente.
características estudadas a serem apresentadas no recital final.
ABSTRACT - Given the historical contextualization of jazz and the underlying styles created and developed around it, Soul, Funk and R&B are associated with the music of African Americans in the context of social movements of liberalism and against war, with influences on gospel and jazz and having these even influenced jazz later. However, they are currently defined individually and with their own characteristics. The following investigation focuses on the study of these styles, relating them with the jazz influences, looking for common points and to compare them, in order to understand their characteristics, their language and theoretical aspects involved in the style (harmonic field, rhythm, instrumentation, etc.), having as one of the goals the contextualisation and the connection between the styles with the jazz itself. The study is divided into two important stages: (1) research, where the historical framework will be approached, the influences and aspects that help to understand and define them as styles of jazz influence; (2) composing of original songs within the styles (taking into account my personal interpretation) with the respective explanation and analysis that will define the artistic project in a practical level. These steps occur almost simultaneously throughout the study. The practical part (2) of the artistic project serves for a more invasive understanding of the subject in question, where I can as "touch the ground", putting into practice the research in question, as well as boost myself as a musician and composer. As a final step, I will compose six original songs that will be interpreted by musicians in a formation that suites on the style, giving preference to the i characteristic instrumentation of jazz, without excessive electronic sounds, by own choice, in order to highlight other points of the study. It is not a very studied or deep subject and for me, as a lover of these styles, as for other musicians, it could have an importance in the way this music is interpreted.
