Abstract(s)
This final report emerges within the scope of the Curricular Unit of Supervised Teaching Practice II, inserted in the last semester of the Master’s degree in Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education and Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education, of the Higher School of Education, which foresees the implementation of two supervised teaching practices, in the 1st and the in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education and, following this, the elaboration of an investigative study. The research presented in this report is based on the problematic The experiences of learning Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in the 2nd CBE can contribute for the development of CDC, indispensable for the construction of a Democratic World and for the formation of a citizenship that transforms the social reality, and seeks to respond to the three research goals defined: i) To recognize the potential of historical-geographical knowledge and the study of literary genres (fables) for the development of CDC; ii) To relate Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal teaching methods with the development of CDC; iii) To evaluate the contribution of the learning experiences implemented in Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal lessons for the development of CDC in students. For the implementation of the investigation, it was mobilized a mixed methodology, through the collection of statistical data and content analysis, applied when examining the lesson planning of the didactic sequences created for HGP and POR and also student’s written productions. The results obtained allow us to recognize that i) the topics of the History and Geography of Portugal and the study of fables in Portuguese make the CDC emerge in the classroom if there is this pedagogical-didactic intention; ii) active work methodologies, supported by a constructivist model that places the student at the center of their learning process, contribute to the development of CDC and iii) the learning experiences implemented in HGP and POR lessons have contributed for the development of the CDC’s valuing cultural diversity, respect, analytical and critical thinking skills and knowledge and critical understanding of the self.
