Abstract(s)
No panorama educativo Português foram introduzidas, nos últimos anos,
alterações que vieram atribuir às estruturas de orientação educativa novas
responsabilidades e implicaram mudanças na organização das Escolas, particularmente
ao nível dos cargos de gestão intermédia, como o Departamento do 1º ciclo. O
Coordenador deste órgão assume uma posição estratégica nas Escolas do 1º Ciclo e na
relação entre estas e o órgão de gestão.
O presente estudo tem como principal objetivo conhecer a organização,
funcionamento e forma de coordenação do Departamento do 1º Ciclo. Neste sentido,
desenvolvemos um estudo qualitativo, realizando um inquérito por entrevista em dois
Agrupamentos Verticais de Escolas da região da Grande Lisboa. Utilizámos a entrevista
semiestruturada como técnica de recolha de dados, visando conhecer as conceções dos
dois diretores de Agrupamento, dos dois Coordenadores de Departamento Curricular do
1º Ciclo e de quatro professores deste nível educativo, sobre o papel do Departamento
do 1º Ciclo e do seu Coordenador.
Os resultados do estudo indicam que são reconhecidas a importância e o papel do
Departamento do 1º Ciclo e do seu Coordenador e que este assume comportamentos que
confirmam a confiança nele depositada, como representante dos professores deste ciclo
e elo de ligação entre estes e os órgãos de gestão. Apontam também para a necessidade
de melhorias na articulação entre este Departamentos e os outros Departamentos/outros
ciclos.
ABSTRACT In the Portuguese educational landscape there were introduced, in the last few years, new regulations that have granted to educational guidance structures new responsibilities and changes in the organization of schools, particularly at the level of middle management positions as it is the case of Primary School Coordination Department (1st cycle) and the action of its coordinator, who is an essential element. His strategic position, in the exercise of his functions, enables a boost of conducive work that results in good work practices and in a direct collaboration with those responsible for the school’s management. The present study’s main goal is to know the Primary School Coordination Department’s organisation, function and way of coordinating. In this sense, we developed a qualitative study, by making an interview survey in two Vertical Group of Schools located in the big Lisbon region. We used the semi-structured interview as the data collection technique, in order to know the conceptions of both Group of Schools’ Directors, of both 1st Cycle Curricular Department Coordinators and four teachers from this educational level, about the role of the 1st Cycle Department and his respective coordinator. The study’s results indicate that the importance and the role of the 1st Cycle Department and his Coordinator are recognized and that he assumes behaviours that confirm the trust that is deposited in him, as a representative of this cycle’s teachers and the connection link between them and the management organs. They also point towards the need of improvements in the articulation between these Departments and the others/or from different cycles.
