Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - The decision to undertake my internship at "O Nariz Teatro" is closely tied to the idea of wanting to "escape" from art centralized in major cities such as Lisbon and Porto. The decentralization of art, particularly in the realm of theater, is a matter that must be considered because artists are not solely confined to metropolitan areas. Everyone has the right to receive support, just as a cultured society should appreciate art in any part of the country. I have always felt that culture is primarily valued and supported in Lisbon and Porto, which is somewhat disconcerting. Likewise, it troubles me that it is often the same theaters and/or artists who receive support and consequently attract larger audiences. The internship, which took place at a decentralized theater, devoid of popular faces and not always capable of getting financial support, was the ideal setting for me to reflect upon, describe, analyze, and substantiate the topic of decentralization. Following the completion of the internship, I conducted an extensive research on the company's trajectory and its role in the decentralization of theater. With this theoretical investigation concluded, the next step involved drafting the final report, in which I will address not only the decentralization of culture in Portugal but also my academic internship experience, relating it to the main theme.
