A Educação Artística e as representações sociais nos filmes de animação: análise a partir de um programa televisivo de Vasco Granja

Este estudo incide sobre a programação infantil da RTP relativamente aos filmes de animação, em dois momentos - antes de 1974 e de 1974 a 1976 - com a transmissão do programa Cinema de Animação e apresentado por Vasco Granja. Sabendo que através do Cinema de Animação foram transmitidos filmes de animação provenientes de vários países, foram constituídas duas amostras: uma amostra relativa aos filmes de animação anteriores ao Cinema de Animação e outra com filmes transmitidos com o Cinema de Animação. Através deste estudo pretende-se compreender de uma forma alargada as relações entre a linguagem visual veiculada pelo cinema de animação, construções sociais, Educação Artística e Literacia visual. Para tal, analisaram-se os filmes de forma a detetar níveis de representações visuais, culturais e sociais distintos por forma a caracterizar as suas múltiplas dimensões. Em relação à programação exibida entre 1974 e 1976, identificaram-se as mudanças de paradigmas visuais, narrativos e sociais assim como os contributos desta programação para um alargamento da literacia e cultura visuais e, consequentemente para um espaço amplo da Educação Artística num contexto informal. Recorrendo a uma metodologia qualitativa, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa documental. Esta pesquisa abrangeu tanto documentos textuais, como visuais e audiovisuais. Para além de documentação científica, e de suportes visuais disponíveis na internet, analisou-se a documentação integrante do espólio de Vasco Granja, o qual foi doado pela família à Biblioteca da Faculdade de Letras de Lisboa. A análise documental permitiu identificar que, o programa Cinema de Animação, promoveu a mudança nos paradigmas sociais representados, e que este permitiu o acesso a diferentes linguagens visuais, o que terá contribuído para o desenvolvimento de um referencial visual ampliado no âmbito da literacia visual e cultural – campos essenciais na área da Educação Artística.
Abstract This research focuses on children’s broadcasting programs, in terms of animated films, in two moments - before 1974 and from 1974 to 1976 - with the broadcast of the Cinema de Animação programme presented by Vasco Granja. Considering that Cinema de Animação broadcasted animated films from various countries, two samples were created: a sample of animated films from before Cinema de Animação and another of films broadcasted in Cinema de Animação. This study aims to having a broader understanding of the relationships between the visual language conveyed by animated cinema, social constructions, Art Education and visual literacy. To this end, the films were analysed to detect distinctive levels of visual, cultural and social representations in order to characterize their multiple dimensions. In relation to the programme shown between 1974 and 1976, the changes in visual, narrative and social paradigms were identified, as well as the contributions of this programme to a broadening of visual literacy and culture and consequently to a broad space of Art Education, in an informal setting. Using a qualitative methodology, documentary research was carried out. This research covered textual, visual and audiovisual documents. In addition to scientific documentation and visual media available on the internet, documentation from Vasco Granja’s personal archive, which was donated by his family to the Library of the School of Arts and Humanities of Lisbon, was analysed. The document analysis made it possible to identify that the program Cinema de Animação encouraged changes in the represented social paradigms, and that the program allowed access to different visual languages, which has contributed to the development of a broader visual referential within cultural and visual literacy skills – essential areas to Art Education.
