Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: The theoretical development of this dissertation is anchored to the cultivation hypothesis developed by George Gerbner in the 1960s, according to which the images we create of the world are, to a certain extent, shaped by television and media imagery. Based on this theoretical basis, this study reflects on how television consumption can influence audience perception, in this specific case, the perception of the war conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 2022. Through an online questionnaire, a sample of 104 individuals, male and female, aged 18 years old and over, was constituted. These individuals mostly use television when they want to be informed about current affairs, have an average informative consumption of 1 to 2 hours, and are able to separate the television experience from their personal experience. Despite the preferential consumption of television content in the sample under analysis, no significant differences were found between the different consumer groups.
