Abstract This study aims to analyse the megatrends associated with the dual ecological and digital transition and their impact on sustainable business competitiveness, with a particular focus on the industrial sector. To this end, a holistic and integrated approach model was developed to enable industrial companies to respond strategically to the challenges inherent in the circular economy, decarbonisation and digital transformation, while ensuring the creation of sustainable value and demonstrating performance through sustainability reporting. The methodology combined a literature review on Science, Technology and Innovation geared towards Industrial Sustainability, an analysis of public policy instruments at European and national level, a study of ESG factors and reporting tools, and an assessment of cases of Portuguese industrial companies recognised by the SDG Observatory for their sustainability practices. The model was validated through a case study applied to companies in the textile, clothing and footwear sectors using a questionnaire, supplemented by interviews with relevant entities such as APICCAPS, ATP, CITEVE, CTCP, BIOND, APCER, SGS Portugal, SA, KPMG Portugal and PwC Portugal. The results highlight the model's potential as a strategic support tool, strengthening companies' capacity to face the challenges posed by megatrends, promoting alignment with the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, and consolidating a path towards more sustainable and resilient industrial competitiveness.
