Abstract(s)
O presente projecto pretende investigar modalidades de figuração cinematográfica da
experiência sensorial do espaço arquitectónico, que convoquem o corpo do espectador
na sua totalidade sensível. O trabalho organiza-se em duas partes.
A primeira parte procura uma definição para o objecto do projecto enfatizando as suas
qualidades matéricas e sensuais. A dança surge neste âmbito como meio privilegiado
de vivência do espaço arquitectónico.
A segunda parte incide na exploração de distintos modos de figuração
cinematográfica da experiência arquitectónica. Dividindo-se em três capítulos:
O primeiro capítulo destaca o dispositivo cinematográfico como um meio de
descoberta, capaz de reeducar o espectador e de apelar à sua fisicalidade, permitindo o
questionamento da arquitectura enquanto prática artística construtora de experiências
significativas.
No segundo capítulo são investigados diferentes modos de figuração da experiência
arquitectónica. Com base nos conceitos de espaço háptico, espaço qualquer e
visualidade háptica, aptos a expressar sensações e afectos, são analisados dois filmes:
Pickpocket (1959) de Robert Bresson e Páginas Escondidas (1992) de Alexander
Sokurov.
No último capítulo, o filme Casa, Corpo sem fim exibe uma abordagem experimental
à figuração da experiência sensorial do espaço arquitectónico. A dança surge em
paridade com o cinema como modo elevado de recriação do espaço.
ABSTRACT - The present project aims to investigate the representation modalities of the sensorial experience in architectural space, which call out for the total sensibility of the spectators’ body. The work is organized in two parts. The first part looks out for a definition of the project’s object emphasizing its sensual and material qualities. Dance appears in this context as an elevated way of experiencing architectural space. The second part explores distinct ways of representing cinematically the architectural experience. It is divided in three chapters: The first chapter emphasises on cinema as a medium of revelation, capable of educating and appealing to the spectator’s physicality, allowing the questioning of architecture as an artistic practice that creates meaningful experiences. In the second chapter, research is made on distinct ways of representing the architectural experience. Starting from the concepts of haptic space, any-spacewhatever, and haptic visuality, able to convey sensations and affects, two films are analysed: Robert Bresson’s Pickpocket (1959) and Alexander Sokurov’s Whispering Pages (1992). Finally, the film Casa, Corpo sem fim presents an experimental approach to the representation of the sensorial experience in architectural space. Dance appears along with cinema as a high means of recreating space.
