Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - This Internship Report is part of the Master's Degree in Dance Teaching at the Escola Superior de Dança of Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa. The practical component of this report, carried out during the school year 2019/2020, was based on the principles of action research, implemented in a 3rd year class of Specialized Artistic Teaching of Dance in Lugar Presente Dance School, with age between 12 (twelve) and 13 (thirteen). The investigation focus is the training of the adductor muscles to assess their relevance in improving balance, more precisely in static equilibrium. The difficulty observed in classical dance technique students regarding the balance, an essential aspect in the realization of elements as the ‘rise’, ‘relevé’ and the ‘retiré’, it is one of the constraints that conditions the dancer, particularly in the early years of the subject. Thus it becomes pertinent to perceive the reasons that are in the base to understand how this constraint can be minimized. The methodology underlying the data collection procedure was action research. In this sense were used observation grids, semi-structured interviews, logbook and audiovisual record. Various strength training exercises have been implemented in order to enhance performance, particularly in terms of balance. In this way, the autonomous teaching stage was divided into two set of 14 (fourteen) and 9 (nine) classes, in which a circuit of training exercises for the adductor muscles was applied using accessories such as weight shin guards, elastic band and Swiss ball, with an increase in load from one set of classes to the other. Considering the obtained results throughout the pedagogical practice, it can be concluded that the proposed objectives were globally achieved, despite the limitations caused by online teaching forced by Covid-19 confinement. Through the training of the adductor muscles, the abductor/adductor muscle imbalance was reduced developing the capacity for static equilibrium in the ‘rise’, ‘relevé’ and the ‘retiré’.
