Abstract(s)
Os exames laboratoriais tornaram-se essenciais para o diagnóstico e terapêutica das mais variadas doenças. Assim, é de grande relevância que os laboratórios de patologia clínica garantam a qualidade dos resultados obtidos ao longo das diferentes fases laboratoriais. A automação está cada vez mais presente nos laboratórios, possibilitando uma diminuição do tempo de resposta e de erros, uma elevação do fluxo de amostra, logo, é possível adquirir resultados rápidos e mais fiáveis a um elevado número de utentes em simultâneo. O estágio enquadra-se no âmbito do Mestrado de Tecnologias Clínico-Laboratoriais da Escola de Tecnologias de Saúde de Lisboa, do Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa, com duração total de 600 horas no Laboratório de Microbiologia e Biologia Molecular do Hospital Egas Moniz, pertencente ao Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Ocidental, sob orientação das Doutoras Edna Soraia Gregório Ribeiro, Isabel Maria de Almeida Marques Paes de Faria e Zúzeca Vanina Salvador Magalhães. Este relatório tem como objetivo descrever todas as etapas do processo laboratorial, caracterização e descrição do funcionamento do local de estágio, dos equipamentos, metodologias e técnicas utilizadas, abordando testes e parâmetros analíticos definidos, bem como o seu interesse clínico. Por fim, o diagnóstico microbiológico é uma ferramenta essencial na saúde, permitindo detetar, isolar, avaliar a suscetibilidade a fármacos para condução a uma terapêutica, reduzindo a mortalidade e contribuindo para o bem-estar geral da população através da aplicação de várias técnicas e equipamentos. Embora tenham várias limitações, são melhorados e substituídos à medida que novos avanços tecnológicos ocorrem.
ABSTRACT - Laboratory tests have become essential for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases. Thus, clinical pathology laboratories must guarantee the quality of the results obtained throughout the different laboratory phases. Automation is increasing at laboratories, enabling a decrease in response time and errors, and an increase in the flow of samples, therefore, it’s possible to acquire quick and more reliable results from a large number of users simultaneously. This internship is part of the Master’s Degree in Clinical-Laboratory Technologies at the Lisbon Health School Technologies, at the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon, with a total duration of 600 hours in the Microbiology and Molecular Biology Laboratory of Egas Moniz Hospital, belonging to the West Lisbon Hospital Center, under the guidance of Doctors Edna Soraia Gregório Ribeiro, Isabel Maria de Almeida Marques Paes de Faria and Dr. Zúzeca Vanina Salvador Magalhães. This report aims to describe all stages of the laboratory process, characterization, and description of the operation of the internship location, equipment, methodologies, and techniques used, addressing defined tests and analytical parameters, as well as their clinical interest. Finally, microbiological diagnosis is an essential tool in health, allowing one to detect, isolate, and assess the susceptibility to drugs to conduct therapy, reducing mortality and contributing to the general well-being of the population through the application of several techniques and equipment. Although they’ve several limitations, they’re improved and replaced as new technological advances occur.
