Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - This Internship Report, written on the extent of the Master in Dance Teaching, was held at the Vilar do Paraíso Music Academy, in the Dance Vocational Course, as part of the Classical Dance Technique (CDT) subject, specifically in the work of Pointes. Its practical application stood at the 3rd year level, during the 2013/2014 school year, with two classes, one of study and one of control. The main aim was to identify the students’ difficulties when starting the Pointe work, trying to understand which the conditions for a proper introduction to the pointe technique within the CDT are, namely the main problems associated with this particular dance technique. The main problems that may interfere with the ascent to the pointes were thoroughly and carefully thought about, aiming to signal the most common weaknesses that prevent the ascent to pointe shoes and to apply strengthening exercises, specifically to a postural level and of the lower limbs. After an observation of the target audience and based on existing data, we have drawn up a set of pedagogical and methodological strategies to be applied in the CDT subject. We conducted a qualitative research, in which the research-action was a central element in the collection and processing of data, also supported by a methodology based on the description and interpretation of facts which required a reflective practice that would give rise to the improvement of the whole process and therefore to the search for the effectiveness of the internship that we report here. We observed that, during the internship, the planned and given lessons were well received by the students who showed interest and acceptance to new knowledge. All work resulted effectively as it will be proved throughout the report. It also became quite evident that the topic was completely new and desired in the context of application, making it clear that the remaining educational context has become much more simplified.
