Abstract(s)
Resumo I - A primeira secção do presente trabalho consiste na apresentação do relatório de
estágio realizado no âmbito do Mestrado em Ensino da Música. Sendo docente de órgão no
Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa (IGL) desde 2010, o estágio foi realizado neste
estabelecimento em exercício de funções de docência. Sendo uma escola pública de ensino
artístico especializado de música, o seu objectivo primordial é formar músicos profissionais e
preparar alunos para o acesso a uma formação de nível superior, possível através de um
projecto educativo devidamente estruturado e rigoroso. Ao longo das várias décadas de
história do IGL subtrai-se a formação de inúmeros casos de músicos bem-sucedidos na cena
nacional e mesmo internacional, o que confere prestígio à instituição e orgulho e
responsabilidade aos professores que nela actualmente exercem funções. Para a realização do
estágio, foram selecionados três alunos de níveis de ensino distintos (um de preparatório, um
de básico e um de secundário), com os quais foram observadas e analisadas diversas
componentes implícitas da prática pedagógica e os resultados obtidos, culminando esta secção
do trabalho numa reflexão pessoal sobre a prática lectiva do estagiário.
Resumo II - A segunda parte do presente trabalho destina-se à realização de uma investigação na área de ensino de música, especificamente, na aprendizagem de órgão. Sendo que o acesso ao estudo de órgão em Portugal tem evoluído nas últimas décadas, desde a precedência de determinado nível de piano até à admissão directa de alunos com oito anos (sem qualquer conhecimento musical ou prática de teclado) no caso do Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa, o tema da investigação surge através de uma pesquisa sobre a adequação de métodos e manuais de aprendizagem de órgão disponíveis no mercado à realidade actual. Sendo o investigador docente de órgão, tem contacto frequente com alunos em iniciação musical ao órgão, constituindo assim uma preocupação constante sobre a oferta de material de apoio ao ensino para este tipo de público. Após a pesquisa sobre manuais de aprendizagem de órgão, o investigador propõe desenvolver uma investigação sobre o manual Suzuki Organ School – desenvolvido por Gunilla Rönnberg e Lars Hagström –, sobre o qual pouca investigação foi encontrada, restando apenas escassos manifestos de sucesso imediato. Pretende a investigação verificar se o manual permite adquirir as várias competências específicas de tocar órgão, qual o seu impacto nos resultados e no desenvolvimento dos alunos e de que forma pode afectar a sua motivação. A primeira fase do processo de investigação foi baseada na selecção de alunos do investigador em iniciação musical, embora com historiais distintos, com os quais foi adoptado e implementado o manual e parte da filosofia de Shinichi Suzuki, consistindo esta etapa na análise do repertório abordado, das competências envolvidas e dos resultados obtidos. A segunda fase de investigação consistiu na aquisição de conhecimento empírico, através da experiência de vários professores de órgão de Portugal, directamente relacionado com as perguntas de investigação. Conclui-se que o manual pode ser eficaz no que diz respeito à aquisição das várias competências específicas de tocar órgão e que pode ter um impacto positivo na motivação dos alunos.
Abstract I - The first part of this work consists of a report on the teaching practice internship undertaken as part of the Masters Degree in Music Education. Given the author’s position as organ teacher at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa since 2010, the internship was undertaken at this school as part of the regular teaching programme. As a public school specializing in teaching music, the first aim of the IGL is to create professional musicians while preparing them for a university education, backed by a strictly-structured study plan. Through the decades of its history it has contributed to the formation of many successful musicians both nationally and internationally, conferring prestige on the school and pride and responsibility on its teachers. For the internship three students of different levels of education and cognitive development were chosen – 1 from elementary school (9 years old), 1 from middle school (10 years old) and 1 from high school (19 years old) – with whom the several components of music tuition and its results were observed and analyzed. This section concludes with a personal reflection on the intern’s own pedagogical practice.
Abstract II - The second part of this work consists in developing a research in music teaching, specifically in organ tuition. As in the last decades the minimum requirements for studying the organ have changed – from the old requirement of a certain level of piano practice to the present admission of children as young as 8 years old with no practice or musical knowledge at all (in the case of the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa) – the main theme of this study emerges through research on the adequacy of the available organ tuition books to the actual situation and standard of students. As organ teacher, the researcher has frequent contact with children that have no musical knowledge and no keyboard practice whatsoever, and is thus faced with a constant concern to find good and proper material for these students. After a thorough research in organ tuition manuals, the researcher proposes to develop a study on Suzuki Organ School – based on the philosophy of Shinichi Suzuki, and developed specifically for the organ by Gunilla Rönnberg and Lars Hagström –, about which there is little literature or research, beyond a few reports of the immediate success of the method when applied to children. The present study seeks to verify if this manual offers the possibility to acquire the specific skills of organ playing, how it impacts on the results of the students, and in which way it can affect their motivation. The first stage of this research was based on a selection of students from the researcher’s class at the outset of their musical training, with whom the Suzuki Organ School was adopted, this stage consisting of the analysis of the repertoire used, the skills involved and the results obtained. The second stage of the study consisted in acquiring empirical knowledge, through an enquiry sent to several organ teachers of Portugal, with the goal of evaluating their experience with this manual. The present study concludes that the Suzuki Organ School might be effective in acquiring the several specific skills of organ playing as well as contributing positively to the student’s motivation.
